Something's cookin'
Those of you who know me well know that I do not cook. I have never learned and at this point, why should I? I am married to a fabulous cook who enjoys making us tasty stuff. But today I wanted to get into the cooking and help him out. And of course my mini-me, Miss Abby had to join in.
Photographic evidence of said cooking...
Of course, we use the old Betty Crocker cookbook. Nobody knows food like Betty.
Yes it is fair to assume that at this point, the novelty of cooking had worn off and I'd started taking pictures.
Turkey!
I did set the table...
Close up of my Grandma's china. We bring it out for the holidays and I really love it.

Almost there
I am nearly done with this semester. I am looking forward to having a break and getting ready for Christmas. I'm especially looking forward to the kids being on break and baking cookies and hanging out with them. I have one more week of classes and then finals. Of course this means that now I'm cramming in the studying and working on my papers. Why do they always make those do right at the end anyway?!? So I have been spending most of my free time reading, researching or typing. Here's how I'm getting through it:
*The new Espresso Truffle coffee at Starbucks. OMG, delicious!
*Catnaps
*Bribing the kids to be quiet
*Having my sweet Gracie to cuddle with while I read (although this usually leads to a catnap)
*Diet A&W Cream Soda. Yum!
*And my pink desk area (psst...I voted for Obama). I can't wait until we have time to paint our bedroom.

Update your lifestyle!
We saw this sign on the door of an Indian food shop in the 'burbs during a recent trek out there to see my parents. Having the immature sense of potty humor that we do, Evan and I thought it was hilarious and took a picture so we could share it.
Closeup:
*It has an enema wash!
*$99 installed!
*Clean butts for everyone!

Meet Rosie
This is Rosie.
Rosie is that hard to see pink flower in the cup and she belongs to Abby. Saturday Abby and I went to the Jewel and bought ourselves some flowers. I let Abby choose and she picked out pink carnations. She really wanted to take one flower and have it in her room so I let her.
I honestly figured the novelty of it would wear off by the end of the day, but I underestimated my daughter. She has given me daily updates on how her flower is doing and shown me how she is taking care of it (sitting it in her windowsill and making sure it gets some sunshine). This morning she brought the flower to me though and said, "Mommy, Rosie is dying. I think we should throw her away." Up until this point I wasn't aware that the flower had a name. While the flower is drying up, I didn't want to end this friendship so quickly so I told her "I think Rosie has another day or two". And Abby said "Maybe if she had some friends, she wouldn't be sad and she'd live longer."
Some days you want to send your kids to Grandma's until they are 25. And then there are days like today when they do something that makes your heart overflow with love for them.

Shock kisses
Why I've been MIA
Because this is all I've been doing...
...homework
Yep it's that time of the semester. When all the papers I have due need to be started, tests have to be taken, and I lack the motivation and time for both. Don't get me wrong, I love school. I am so lucky for this chance to be there. It's the home part that's hard. The finding time to squeeze in a hundred or so pages of reading while the kids are fighting, dog is barking and the laundry monster is trying to crawl out of the basket.
And now I will leave with you a random cute Abby photo.

Tagged!
I was tagged by Amy to list 7 weird things about me. I'm supposed to tag 7 other people, but 2 of the people I could tag have already been tagged. So anyways, here we go...
1. When I'm mad, I clean. It calms me down. I always start in the kitchen for some reason.
2. I love Chex mix, but I'll only eat the Chex cereal pieces. I feed all the other ingredients to the dog or throw them away.
3. I'm weird about what I eat for lunch. If I'm in the mood for say a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, I'll only want to eat that for weeks. Right now it's pizza bagels.
4. I have a hand lotion obsession. I put it on probably 50 times a day.
5. I can't clean a bedroom without the bed being made first.
6. I have most of the lines to every Spongebob episode memorized.
7. When I'm stressed out or sad, I like to play The SIMS 2.

Diaper cake
One of my bestest friends is expecting her first baby and last weekend was her baby shower. I wanted to do something special for her so I decided to get crafty. I bought a few things from her gift registry and used them to decorate this diaper cake. It's the first time I ever made one and I really labored over it because I wanted it to be perfect. I have to admit that Josh helped me out a lot as there were several times where I needed an extra set of hands. I think it turned out pretty nice.

Halloween photos
Hope you had a great time trick-or-treating on Friday! Evan & Abby had a great time. They both got a lot of candy! We only had 3 trick-or-treaters visit our house this year.
Here are some photos from our Halloween.
Evan was a Packer's fan.
Abby was a black kitty.
Evan made me try on the cheese head hat.
