Rest in Peace Cooper

Early this morning my best friend Amy and her family lost their beloved dog Cooper to a terminal heart tumor. Cooper was a very sweet dog and he will be missed. As anyone who owns a dog knows, they are more than a pet. A dog becomes an integral part of the family as our playmates, exercise partners, guardians of our children and homes and sometimes our closest confidants. My thoughts are with Amy and her family today as they deal with their loss.

The Egg Hunt

Saturday we took Abby to the Easter egg hunt in Sycamore. It's usually a lot of fun and the kids wind up with a lot of candy. Since Abby has a very hard time walking on the grass and is not even allowed to run yet, she didn't get as much as candy as usual. But she still had fun which is the important part anyway. The video clip is of her actually walking!

I hope that everyone had a nice Easter. We had a great day. I will post pictures tomorrow of our Easter celebration.

Snow, snow go away.

Abby and I planted some snapdragon seeds and put them in this watering can-turned-planter. I was so excited to see little green spouts in there a couple of days ago.

I am so ready for spring. Judging by the fact that there is still snow on our deck, it will be awhile before we are planting anything that can stay outside.

I got my new glasses from Zenni Optical. I ordered those pink ones I posted about a few weeks ago and I hate them on me. But I also got a new pair of the ones I already had, which are these:

They are the same style and color as what I already had, but I think these are a little darker. Bonus, they are not broken.

In other news, Abby's therapy is going well and she's walking unassisted. I am so proud of her for her hard work. Hopefully she'll be able to do the things she's missing out on soon, like running and jumping.

Puppy Love

While our friend Matt is away on vacation we have been watching his dog Teddy. Our dog Gracie loves Teddy. They are so cute together. They play together, snuggle with each other and follow each other around. Gracie isn't the only one enjoying having Teddy around. We are all enjoying having a second dog around to play with and pet. Abby and Evan want to keep him...but I think Matt would mind.

Here are some pictures of the two furry friends:

Friday Five: 5 things I'm grateful for today

It's so easy to be too busy to stop and smell the roses. So every Friday I'm going to post something positive that makes me stop and think about the good things in my life.

5 Things I'm Grateful for Today:

1. The weather is nice enough that I could drive home from school with my sunroof open today. It was also nice enough to take the dog for a little walk.

2. Steak N Shake has Coke Zero which is my favorite soda. It's nice when you can mix easy and calorie free. (Stopped there on my way home today)

3. I get to scrapbook with my best pal Amy tonight.

4. Mini-roses in a pot on my kitchen windowsill. They're even pink.

5. Hugs and kisses.

What are you grateful for today?

A little update

Abby had her 1st physical therapy appointment today. It went better than I had expected. She is now putting weight on her left leg (the one that was broken) and walking assisted with her walker. Her therapist said that she shouldn't need the walker after about another week. She is going to go to therapy twice a week for a month. She's almost done!

I haven't been blogging much or feeling very social because I've been so busy with school. It's a good kind of busy, but it also makes me anxious. I really want to finish out the semester with A's and B's. I'm also still feel hypothyroid and tired due to some issues I was having with taking my pills. So I do have some days where I *need* a nap to get through or where I feel totally unmotivated. But I'm getting past that.
